We Can Have It All

Posted by Jeff Erno on Saturday, June 13, 2009,
It was about twenty years ago when I first began "coming out" of the closet. Of course at first I started by confiding only in a couple close friends. Gradually this grew into a circle of trusted people who I knew accepted me for the person that I was. I then told my family, beginning with my siblings, then my parents, cousins, etc. Eventually I was out in my community, in my church, and in my workplace. When I was 27 years old, the local newspaper ran a story featuring openly gay people who ...

A Father's Love... Right Out in Public & Everything...

Posted by Jeff Erno on Saturday, June 13, 2009,
With Father's Day quickly approaching at the end of this month, the holiday has been on my mind quite a bit recently. I have a lot of regrets as I look back upon my life and realize that I didn't avail myself of numerous opportunities to connect with my own dad. I also fear that I didn't provide as much guidance and support for Randy as I could have during the time he was in my home. But I do understand that to focus upon the regrets rather than to cherish the relationships that we've had and...

Am I a Closet Homophobe or Just Boring?

Posted by Jeff Erno on Saturday, June 13, 2009,

It seems there's been a lot of media hype about whether or not homophobia played a role in the selection of this year's American Idol.  To my chagrin, this has caused me a certain degree of guilt, for I was one of the millions who happened to vote against the openly-gay contestant. Oops! So when the multitude of Adam Lambert fans began declaring that the only reason he didn't win was his sexual orientation, I kind of said to myself, "Well gosh, maybe I'm really a closeted homophobe!"

Could it ...

Imagine Being Chase

Posted by Jeff Erno on Saturday, June 13, 2009,

Everyone who knows me is aware of the fact that I am a big fan of Oprah Winfrey. The rule has always been, don't bother me between 4 and 5 pm when Oprah's on! Unfortunately the way my shedule has been the past few years I generally am not able to watch her show any more, but there are a few rare occasions when I do make it home in time to watch my favorite talk-show diva.

Yesterday happened to be one of those days, and there is a part of me that genuinely wishes I'd have had to work late that ...

Sweet Kisses

Posted by Jeff Erno on Saturday, June 13, 2009,
I sure do write a lot more about kissing than I actually do any of it. In fact I write about it, read about it, sing about it, think about it, and dream about it. Only problem is that I really need someone to actually do it with.

Of course over the span of a lifetime I have given and received thousands of kisses. Not all of these have been passionate or romantic, mind you. In fact the majority have not. But I can say to you honestly that I would not trade the possibility of ever experiencing ...

Invisible

Posted by Jeff Erno on Saturday, June 13, 2009,

This past weekend I picked up one of Clay Aiken's CDs when I was in Walmart. I have been listening to it repeatedly every since. I was a huge fan of his from the very beginning, when he first appeared on American Idol. When he finally came out as a gay man a few months back, I don't think that anyone was terribly surprised.

A few weeks ago I happened to be flipping through television channels and there was an advertisement for a movie which was going to be airing on Lifetime network. The movie...

Jason, My Soul Mate

Posted by Jeff Erno on Saturday, June 13, 2009,

During the course of human existence, souls reach out to one another, instinctively seeking connections. Professionally, emotionally, spiritually, intellectually, even physically, we seek out compatibility – another who can relate to us and who can understand our inner workings.  These connections become the building blocks of our relationships, be they familial ties, acquaintances, romantic partners, or friends. We slip into different roles as we connect with different individual souls. ...

Will the Real Brett Willson Please Stand Up??

Posted by Jeff Erno on Saturday, June 13, 2009,
Is it normal for a nerdy little gayboy to fall head over heels in love with the high school football hero? Didn't all of us gay kids have our crushes? Maybe it wasn't even a real-life person. Perhaps it was a movie star or singer or TV actor. For me, I was ga-ga over Luke Skywalker. And of course we cannot forget Shaun Cassidy, Michael J Fox, and Ricky Shroedder. I remember leafing through the pages of Tiger Beat magazine in the supermarket, wishing I wasn't too embarrassed to buy a copy and ...
