My Weekly Reading

February 10, 2012
This week I added ten books to my "already read" pile. Most of them I really liked. A couple were not exactly my taste, but that's not to say that there won't be plenty of other readers who will love them. Among the books I really enjoyed was Zach's Secret by Matthew W. Grant, a YA coming out story that featured a gay teen who was an editor for his school paper and was afraid to come out of the closet. I also read and loved Few Are Chosen by Storm Grant. This was the first of her books I've read, and it was absolutely awesome. She is such a great writer and infuses a lot of humor in her stories. If you decide to read it, be prepared to laugh your butt off. It's a story about a gay teen wizard who is a bit of a kltuz and he's trying to slay his first demon. He hooks up with another teen wizard who's uber cute and they both end up having the hots for each other. Saving Tate by Will Banks was a much more serious story that dealt with domestic violence. I thought it was really well-done and was kind of a tear jerker. Slammed by Saloni Quinby was a short story about a couple of professional wrestlers who liked to have their own private erotic matches after they were done in the rink. Breakdown Motel was a scorching hot BDSM book that was really creepy. It was kind of bone-chilling in the way that it featured this guy whose car broke down and he was abducted and turned into a sex slave. I gave the story five stars because it was well written and psychologically terrorizing. Milked Dry was one of the books that I was kind of disappointed in. The concept of the story was hot--a group of straight guys forced into gay slavery--but the book was not really even edited. It seemed more like a rough draft. Winner Takes All by Christopher Pierce is perhaps the best BDSM anthology I've ever read. All the stories are by the same author and they are an authentic portrayal of the BDSM/leather lifestyle. Lion Tamer by Sean Michael was a BDSM short story about a Master and slave that meet on Halloween. The Master is dressed like a lion tamer and the sub is a kitten. This one was not one of my favorites. It seemed more like a story about a roleplay scene to me, rather than authentic BDSM. Okay, I saved the best for last. Jude In Chains by K.Z. Snow was absolutely amazing! It's a story about this investigative reporter who goes undercover to infiltrate one of these ex-gay ministries. He ends up really getting to know the registrants--who are all gay men trying to get cured of their homosexuality--and he helps several of them learn to love who they are and accept their identities as gay men. It brought tears to my eyes, but this isn't really surprising. K.Z. Snow is really such a brilliant writer--one of my favorites. Okay... there you have it. Nine books in total this week: a productive reading week

Zach's Secret
Matthew W. Grant

Senior Zach Denham, the editor of the high school newspaper in a small New England town, struggles to act like a "normal" guy by dating Meghan, his religious friend. Key, the school’s newly arrived attractive jock, forces Zach to confront the truth about his sexual identity. Still unsure of himself, Zach is reluctant to help start a support group for gay students at the high school.Friends will become enemies when the explosive issue divides the school community. Opposition to the group mounts from the school administration, other students, Zach’s friends, and even his own mother. As Mrs. Trevott, Zach’s trusted and sharp-tongued English teacher, advises, some of them will stand up for what they believe in even if they are standing alone. Some will face the darkest parts of themselves when they witness first-hand how destructive their own prejudice can be.

Few Are Chosen
Storm Grant

Apprentice warrior Blake St. Blake is the Chosen One, raised by an ancient order to defend the world against evil. Well, maybe not the whole world, but at least his neighborhood in downtown Detroit. When a dreaded reflux demon is sighted in a local cemetery, Blake is sent off to his very first battle, armed with his sword, his super-senses, his black leather duster, and a few well-rehearsed one-liners. But another Chosen One gets in Blake’s way—an apprentice wizard named Shadow. While the boys argue about who’s the more chosen of the two, the demon escapes. Blake wants to be angry, but it turns out he and Shadow have a lot in common. Besides, Shadow’s pretty cute, and Blake can’t help but think that the wizard’s skills (and hands and lips and other bits) might make the perfect complement to his. Blake and Shadow are brave enough to challenge the reflux demon in a second battle, but will they have the courage to tell each other how they feel?

Saving Tate
by Will Banks

You’d think that Sheriff John Decker would finally get tired of answering the domestic dispute calls at Tate and Henry’s farmhouse but it seems the only thing that Deck’s tired of is that Tate is in Henry’s bed instead of his own. He’s not happy that Henry keeps using Tate as a punching bag and seeing Tate battered and bruised proves to be more than Deck is willing to handle. Coming out is never easy, but for this Sheriff, it could mean saving more than just Tate.

Slammed
by Saloni Quinby

Pro wrestling rivals TK and Jackson have a secret that fans and colleagues wouldn't believe. After their latest fight, they meet for a private, no holds barred match, but who will submit first?

Breakdown Motel
by Ty Marton

Stranded by the side of the road with a broken down vehicle in the middle of the hot New Mexico desert, Danny Major figured that, at very least, nothing else could go wrong. Then he arrived at Motel X. Before long, the young man is captured, restrained, and pushed beyond his physical, mental, and sexual limits, thrown into a twisted world of bondage, sadomasochism, and discipline, a world where survival means submission. Can Danny escape his torturous fate? Or is he destined to be broken down into the perfect slave?[AUTHOR'S NOTE: This is an adult story focused on themes of bondage, discipline, and sadomasochism between adult men. Subject matter includes explicit sexual activity and increasingly intense BDSM scenes (captivity, fisting, dubious consent, watersports, electro-torture, enemas etc.), and is intended purely as erotic fantasy for mature readers. If such material offends you, or if it is illegal to own or read such material in the area where you live, then you should find another title.]

Milked Dry
by R. Harding

Kidnapped and taken to be forced to be milked dry of his sperm every day Martin was slowly being worn down. He was drawn into a gay life he didn’t want. Jake and his partner Skip were going to use him to be filmed for their website on the Internet as their main actor. His body was perfect in every way for that. They even had his face altered through plastic surgery to not be discovered so he wouldn’t be found out that he was. They forced him to have gay sex regardless of the fact he was straight when he was caught. They certainly were going to take care of that minor problem fast. They made sure that their memories would soon fail them to help with the brainwashing. They constantly did that by using the powerful drugs used for mind altering to make them confused and forgetful. Read how he was reduced to a mindless sex addict and became very popular on the largest gay porn sex site on the Internet.

Winner Takes All
by Christopher Pierce

The prolific author Christopher Pierce (christopherpierceerotica.com) has appeared in practically every gay magazine and more than three dozen story anthologies. WINNER TAKES ALL, his newest collection, offers the title novella and 16 shorter stories about gay Master/slave relationships, ranging from the edgiest to the most romantic with every variation in between. While only a few stories are set in other times or other worlds than our own, they are all sex fantasies, not slices of life. Their aim is to entertain, which they do splendidly. Advance readers of WINNER TAKES ALL have said that "Masters and slaves pop off the pages like heroic figures from the leather underworld" (Jay Starre) in "lip-smackingly kinky tales" (Jeff Mann) featuring "beautiful language, touching characterization, poignant plotting, and a full-bodied eroticism" (M. Christian, in his Foreword). The stunning original cover images are by Thom Magister, himself a Perfectbound Press author (THE SLAVE JOURNALS AND OTHER TALES OF THE OLD GUARD).

Lion Tamer
by Sean Michael

Single Hammer Club Top Christopher is dressed up for the club's Halloween party as a lion tamer, complete with whip. He's an expert with the whip; he just needs to find someone special to use it on. Will newcomer and sexy kitty Travis be just what he's looking for?

Jude In Chains
by K.Z. Snow

Hoping further to expose the fallacy of "reparative therapy" for non-heterosexuals, writer Misha Tzerko enrolls in a weeklong program at the Stronger Wings Camp and Conference Center. He's already lost a long-term boyfriend to the ex-gay movement-Robbie abandoned him for a straight life complete with wife-and for his own closure as well as his job at Options magazine, Misha intends to get an inside look at the ministry established by C. Everett Hammer III. Misha is shocked and dismayed to find someone else from his past at Stronger Wings, a man with whom he shared two brief but captivating encounters. He knows he can't save everyone in the program, but he's determined to save Jude Stone... no matter what it takes
